My reading of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. If you’re unacquainted with the language and culture of the period (England, late 18th century), you might understand and enjoy the book more by reading my notes on the book. Pride and Prejudice is a romantic comedy. It’s very funny, exquisitely written, and, hopefully, I’ve done it justice.
The best film adaptation is, by far, the six hour 1995 BBC miniseries with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth. I am much indebted to the English actress Allison Steadman for her (and, therefore, my) interpretation of Mrs. Bennet. If you hate that, you can blame her! 😉
The book is in three shortish “volumes” (always published today together in a single physical volume). So far, I’ve only completed readings of the first volume (of 23 chapters). If you enjoy this and want more, you might write me to spur me along.
